Jerusalem and the City of David
Through the Ages
- THE MOUNT OF OLIVES. We begin our overview study of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives as recorded in 2 Samuel 15:30, Zechariah 14:4, and Luke 21:37.
- ARMON HANATZIV. After our overview study of Jerusalem (looking from east to west), we then will do an overview study of the area from Armon HaNatziv in the south, looking north across the whole region.
- ANCIENT CITY OF DAVID and SHILOACH (Siloam) POOL. We will spend a good part of our time in and among the ruins of the ancient City of David as referenced in 2 Samuel 5:9, 1 Chronicles 15:1, John 9:6, Acts 2:29, among many other biblical narratives. We will also travel deep underground for about 45 minutes, wading through the waters of the Gihon, where King Hezekiah diverted the waters according to 2 Chronicles 32:4 and 32:30.
- KIDRON VALLEY STUDIES. We will examine the location of the Kidron Valley (2 Samuel 15:23 and 2 Kings 23:6. We will learn why it is called by the name “Kidron,” and discuss its many resident tombs of ancient prophets and kings from Judah.
